Litany of a Job Havin-Ass Bitch

Pocket zine printed on pearlescent linen paper. On immigration, unemployment, catholic school, food service, familial memory.

“My parents wanted us to have good jobs, but most importantly to them, they wanted us to want to have good jobs. It wasn’t enough that we acquiesce to goodness - they wanted us to desire it. Desire its rigor, its awards, its sinewy nature. So they sent us to catholic school. Catholic school was really about dichotomies; insides and outs, good and bad, straight and crooked. On one hand, it was the con of the century, because the school was owned by this white Swiss family who were missionaries. On the other hand, there was a lot of potential for pre-adolescent turpitude induced by the psychopathy of our learning environment, and then the world around us. Constant tension. We were all learning that the only life worth living was one hinged on obsession.”
